Acrylic Printing in Malaysia: UV Printing, Laser Engraving & Screen Printing Explained
How is acrylic printed in Malaysia? Compare UV printing, laser engraving and screen printing on acrylic — methods, durability, cost and best uses — for custom signage, displays and branded products.
Acrylic printing turns a clear or coloured sheet into finished signage, displays, awards, and branded products. In Malaysia it's done mainly three ways: UV printing (full-colour graphics straight onto the surface), laser engraving (permanent etched text and logos), and screen printing (bold, durable solid colours for volume runs). This guide explains how each method works, how long it lasts, and which to choose. For a quote on a printed acrylic job, message us on WhatsApp.
Jika anda mencari perkhidmatan acrylic printing di Malaysia — untuk signboard, display, atau produk berjenama — panduan ini membandingkan kaedah UV printing, laser engraving dan screen printing.
The three main acrylic printing methods
UV printing on acrylic
UV printing lays full-colour artwork directly onto the sheet and cures it instantly with UV light. It can print a white underbase plus CMYK, so even photographic detail shows up on clear or coloured acrylic, single or double-sided. It's the most flexible option for full-colour signage, point-of-sale displays, photo panels, and menu boards. Indoor durability is excellent; for outdoor or wet use, add lamination or a UV-stable coat. See UV printing.
Laser engraving on acrylic
Laser engraving etches into the surface — no ink at all. On clear acrylic it leaves a permanent frosted-white mark; on two-tone sheet it reveals the core colour. Because there's nothing to fade or peel, it's the go-to for awards, plaques, nameplates, asset tags, and crisp logos. See laser engraving.
Screen printing on acrylic
Screen printing pushes ink through a stencil mesh to lay down bold, opaque, hard-wearing solid colours. There's a setup cost per colour, so it becomes economical at higher volumes — ideal for large runs of the same 1–4 colour design, such as branded panels or repeated safety markings. See screen printing.
Quick comparison
| Method | Best for | Colours | Durability | Economical at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UV printing | Full-colour graphics, photos, displays | Unlimited (CMYK + white) | High indoor; laminate for outdoor | Low–medium runs |
| Laser engraving | Text, logos, awards, tags | Etched / core colour | Permanent — never fades | Any quantity |
| Screen printing | Bold solid colours, volume | 1–4 spot colours | Very high | High volume |
Which printing method should you choose?
As a rule of thumb: full-colour artwork or a photo means UV printing; permanent, prestige text or a logo (awards, nameplates, signage) means laser engraving; a large quantity of the same one-to-three-colour design means screen printing. Many jobs combine methods — for example a UV-printed panel that's then laser-cut to a custom shape. Our full process range is on the fabrication page.

How much does acrylic printing cost?
Acrylic printing prices depend on the method (setup versus per-piece), the size, the number of colours, single or double-sided, the quantity, the sheet itself (clear, coloured, or mirror), and any finishing such as cut-to-size or polished edges. UV printing has low setup and suits small runs; screen printing has a per-colour setup but is cheap at volume; laser engraving has no ink and is priced by engrave area and time. Print-ready artwork tips
- Send vector files (PDF, AI, SVG, EPS) for crisp text and logos; use 300dpi for photos.
- Specify your Pantone or CMYK colours. Remember clear acrylic has no white unless it's printed (UV adds a white underbase).
- Allow bleed and safe margins, and outline your fonts.
- Tell us the substrate (clear, white, or coloured) — it changes how the colours read.
Frequently asked questions
Does printing on acrylic fade or peel?
UV-cured ink bonds to the surface and resists fading indoors; for outdoor or wet use, add lamination or a UV-stable coat. Laser engraving never fades because it's etched into the material, and screen-printed ink is highly durable.
Can you print full colour on clear acrylic?
Yes. UV printing lays down a white underbase then CMYK, so full-colour artwork shows on transparent sheet. We can also reverse-print on the second surface for a smooth, glass-like front.
What file format do you need?
Vector files (PDF, AI, SVG, EPS) for logos and text, or 300dpi raster for photos. We can help prepare your artwork if needed.
Do you offer bulk or OEM printed acrylic?
Yes — bulk runs and branded, white-label printed products. See OEM acrylic manufacturing.
